APPA Biofuels has been working to ensure the development and consolidation of the Spanish biofuels market for almost 9 years. We have contributed to set up the regulatory framework for biofuels in Spain with special attention to support systems, sustainability and quality standards. APPA Biofuels actively participates both in the European biofuels associations (EBB and ePURE) and in the standardization organizations (AENOR, CEN and ISO) involved in biofuels.

Our main points of interest are issues directly related to biofuels and their sustainability, including the definition and implementation of policies and regulatory frameworks on biofuels and sustainable energy in transport. We believe our contribution would be very valuable in projects under topic LCE 14 as far as we could implement our areas of best knowledge.

Description of the organisation:

APPA Biofuels is the Spanish Biofuels Association, gathering 18 companies that account for more than 90% of the production of biodiesel and bioethanol in Spain. It was created in 2005 as an autonomous section of the Spanish Renewable Energy Association (APPA), the organization of reference of renewable energies in Spain, with nearly 500 companies and organizations from all clean technologies: biofuels, biomass, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, marine, small wind, photovoltaic solar and thermoelectric solar.
