Topic(s) of interest:
LCE 1 New knowledge and technologies – Promising technologies for energy conversion need to be scaled-up in order to demonstrate their potential value in our future energy system. New knowledge and more efficient and cost-competitive energy technologies are required.
Potential contribution: One of the subjects of interest in energy efficiency and energy savings at large power stations is energy-efficient dewatering wet lignite. The state-of-the-art of dewatering wet lignite, at the scale of large power stations, is based on drying (= thermal evaporation of water). Laborelec is interested in mechanical dewatering of wet lignite by filter pressing at elevated temperatures. There are at least 5 known potential partners, from Germany, France, Austria and Finland, to collaborate on the efficiency of dewatering technology of wet lignite. Existing collaboration is successful. The potential partners are: power companies, suppliers of filter presses, R&D companies regarding water and universities.
